Hello

Thank you for taking a moment to visit my site. I'm genuinely interested in sharing a bit about myself so that you feel comfortable working with me. Whether that next interaction is a game, an event project, a writing project or something new, I want you to know who you're working with from the start.

A Beginning

As a young boy my father worked full time and went to night school to get his law degree. In some sense, I felt an obligation to fix things for my mom. I developed a knack for solving problems, fixing widgets and the like, which gave me an inquisitive mind. Later my half-brother came to live with us and aside from being awe-struck by him, I still was inquisitive and one day I came across a strange piece of paper on his cabinet top in his room.

It was a character sheet from the game Dungeons and Dragons. My brother entertained my curiosity by letting me borrow his 3.5 edition rulebook. I didn't put it down until I had scoured every page. I read it cover to cover and in my free time I poured over the imaginative illustrations, my own imagination set afire. I began to play the game and I really haven't stopped playing Tabletop Roleplaying Games or TTRPGs since.

A Second Love

Yup, I spent some time on the stage in college and after for a bit. That was after giving up on pro basketball as a career due to having a poor spine that still troubles me today.

The Career Thing

I spent a lot of years burning the midnight oil.

I had gone to college for ACTING, not computer science or engineering. So, when I landed a job at Microsoft, a company I'd admired, but never dreamed of joining, I had severe imposter syndrome. I remember spending whole nights practically, up till 3am or later to prepare for a 1 hour meeting. The idea of showing up with that logo on my chest and not performing was an absolutely nightmare and non-starter for me.

The extra hours paid off in some ways as I did have a successful career at Microsoft for some 22 years almost. When I hung it up I had called upon fortune 10 and 50 companies, introduced cloud computing to many of them, established myself as a cloud and cybersecurity expert, and even managed a team of other experts at the end.

Family

If I were to tell you that I am a lucky man, you would be hard-pressed to dissuade me of that opinion. I have three children from a previous marriage who are now amazing adults. The fill me with pride and it is my joy and honor to be their father.

And I am doubly lucky to have been found and I would say saved by a woman of unique goodness, unparalleled beauty, and a sweetness only surpassed by her toughness.
